35th Delhi Annual Jnana Yajna: Poojya Swamiji, along with M¡ and Nutan Swamiji will arrive at Delhi on
November 02. They will return to the Ashram by the end of November. Programme details will be announced in the next issue. Contacts:
CIRD: 0120-2698563; Br. Prasanna Swaroopa: 98180 77380; Sanjay Chakravarty: 98112 03815; Raj Dagur: 011-26272879; Mithu Sengupta: 011-2924 4147.
During the forthcoming 3-day Jnana Yajna in Chennai (Oct 2-4), the following two new books authored by Poojya Swamiji will be released:
1. Essential Concepts in Bhagavadgita Vol 3. The book contains a novel exposition of the important messages of Bhagavadgeeta emphasizing how they relate to practical sadhana. The present volume primarily deals with the concepts presented in chapter 5 & 6 of Bhagavadgeeta.
2. Drops of Nectar, based on the talks given by Poojya Swamiji on Sreemad Bhagavatam during the 7th Sreemad Bhagavata Tattva Sameeksha
Satram at Naimisharanyam, Wadakancheri, in 2008. In his preface to the book, Poojya Swamiji says: “While the innocent devotees take to the narrations
lavishly, the intellectuals, due to their indifference and lethargy, miss the great treasure piteously. I feel deeply hurt by this plight of our intelligentsia.
In the earnestness to see that the values and messages enunciated in the Text become the warp and woof of daily life, I felt that the Text should be explained
in its own light, without undue preference or prejudice.”
Poojya Swamiji has restarted the Vivekachudamani class (in Malayalam) in the Ashram on
Sundays (3:30-4:45 pm), except the first Sunday of the month and when he is out of station. The first class was on Sept 13. Over 80 devotees from
Thrissur and neighbouring areas attended.
The class (in Malayalam) on Sankaracharya’s Aparokshanubhutih by Poojya Swamiji continues to be held on
the first Sunday of every month, in Vedavyasa Bhavan, Vyasagiri, Wadakancheri.
Prize distribution for children of Cultural Heritage Class: On Sep 20, in a simple ceremony in Vijnana Bhavan, a number of children were given prizes for their excellent performance in their respective schools. Prizes were also
given to those who did well in the ‘Cultural Test’ conducted by the Ashram earlier. Good conduct and best attendance in the Cultural
Heritage Class were also recognized by token prizes.
While appreciating the children for their performance, Poojya Swamiji urged them to develop the habit of reading to broaden the horizon of their knowledge
and understanding. It is with this in view that all the prizes were selected in the form of books. Swamiji urged the children to be guided ‘by wisdom’ in all aspects of their life. For, only then they will have the human dignity and worth.
Evidently, considerable changes are noticeable in the families of those children attending the cultural heritage classes regularly. Their parents have started appreciating the importance of thought and behavioural culture. They also recognize the need to restrain themselves from unrefined traits and tendencies.
That the parents feel a compulsion to reform the upbringing of children, is a significant contribution of the Cultural Heritage Class to the society.
