Extracts from the Book:
What is then our conclusion about the status of the world?
There must be something Real beneath the seemingly unreal
features of the world. In other words, the ‘unreal’ world
exists around a real substratum. To put it in yet another
manner, the so-called unreal world surely has a Reality
content in it.

In sleep when the body is practically lying inert and
inactive, as against its nature in the wakeful state,
something in us keeps awake and knows about the sleep. That is
why you are able to wake up with the knowledge “I was asleep.
Hence I did not know anything at all.” The holder of this
knowledge “I did not know anything”, is spoken of here as
sunya-vetta (knower of the state of void). The knower of the
state of void cannot be the body, for the body lies completely
inactive. What else can it be then?
